The project Automating the mapping and analysis of vehicle counting data at the City of Quebec includes the development of a system that can be of interest to all smart cities that are using vehicle counting information. In order to easily and rapidly respond to the numerous inquiries about vehicle traffic at intersections, transportation analysts need a system for visually representing vehicle counting information on maps. The multidimensional nature of vehicle counting data in time (more counts per intersection), and in space (more intersections per project), as well as, per time period, and per direction, makes the actual mapping processes arduous and inefficient. The opportunity to develop new innovative processes for transportation analyses, that brings a new integrated, automated, and powerful mapping and analytical system, has been accomplished with the implementation of a geodecisional approach based on Map4Web from Intelli3.
